So the Ultegra R8100 cranksets look like this now of course this is uh basically a doppelganger but a little bit heavier than you would see for the uh the dura ace unit uh which is the 9200 series crank set now they are all featuring just like all hollow two all hollow tech two crank sets they have the same spindle spacing all right so it could be a an old DuraAce 800 all the way and it could be a new to a newer Tiagra crank. Set some of the clearance crank sets that are that are uh now um Hollowtech 2 and then these 12 speed ones all of them will fit in the exact same bottom bracket because the spindle length is the same and the operating range is the same for all of them now and you can identify these very easily just by glancing at them. You can see that it's this symmetrical design rather than the older asymmetrical design. I mean Shimano wanted to change things up as always you know, but this is actually for a really good reason. They made it like this so that I could actually work with a power meter because the way these things work is they would have a strain gauge in there and when you have um you know like this asymmetry in here where this is kind of where it has this break in the material it won't flex evenly right it'll kind of like torque in weird directions and give strange readings which is why all those older power meters have issues which is the newer ones uh won't have that but anyway it'll work in any hollowtech 2 crank set whether it's 12 speed all the way down to the old 10 speed stuff
