BBInfinite T47 External-Type Bottom Bracket Installation into a Ti Litespeed

BBInfinite T47 External-Type Bottom Bracket Installation into a Ti Litespeed

December 27, 2022

If you’re running a gleaming new Titanium Litespeed with the latest SRAM AXS or Shimano kit, you are obviously looking to go fast, and to do so you must have the most efficient and fastest bottom bracket around to get that power from you to the ground, without undue loss. That’s where the BBInfinite One-Piece-Design (OPD) system comes in. T47 comes in a two main types, Internal and External. Internal types, once installed, are contained within the bicycle frame bottom bracket shell, with only some thin flanges showing on both sides. External resides about half in, and half out of the frame and are reminiscent of the good old days of threaded Shimano Hollowtech II bottom brackets, with a cup hanging out on either side of a 68mm shell. In this video we show you just how easy it is to install our amazing new, hub-style T47 systems. Enjoy. Thanks to Chris Brown and the crew at Litespeed for loaning us the gorgeous Ultimate Gravel for this video. Did you know that Quintana Roo has also guzzled the T47 Kool-Aid, and they have branched out into creating dedicated road bikes to back up their already impressive Tri lineup. Nice!

I got this brand new Lightspeed Ultimate Gravel bike in my stand and guess what it is T47 but now it's T47 external now we've done some videos with our T47 internal which is used on Treks but come on over here this is going to look really familiar to you guys look at that 68 millimeters on the nose so what is this basically T47 is like a giant and i mean giant external cut bottom bracket see that it's going to stick out on either side just like that just like an old screw in style English Threaded BSA bottom bracket. Now I'm going to show you how easy this is to put in. We give you this tool for this side that works with our stabilizer ring now when you go to put this in here you can use a little bit of regular plain grease this is a delrin ring even though this is a titanium bike there's absolutely no chance this is just gonna get stuck in there okay so I'm gonna snug this down by hand like that you do not really need to use a tool on it on this side but i do want to snug it pretty good that's the last you're going to use this tool that we provide for this because this one is going to use the traditional Shimano bottom bracket cup tool the old one that worked with Campagnolo it works with all kinds of stuff it works with GXP BSA threaded and it's going to fit in there just like that and this is that familiar Park Tool what is that a BBT-69.2 and we're going to use that to drive it from the non-drive side over to the drive side now we want to go ahead and take a little bit of Motorex or whatever you can use whatever grease you like you know we just around here we we really like the Motorex and we're going to want to use some copper paste see that right there this is a good one there are several out there could you use grease this being a titanium bike yes you could only because uh our bottom brackets are inert they are type two hard anodized and uh they will not they are um they are not gonna flow electrons so you're not gonna worry about having any kind of corrosion from them but I'm doing this as a precaution and because i know how much titanium guys love it all right you have a little push to get in there and we're going to go ahead and just screw that in there just like that and of course we want to uh snug it down just like that and a little uh word to the wise watch out for this copper paste that stuff gets all over everything and you got to watch out for it it will stain everything if you're not careful and we're going to go ahead and we're going to torque this as the laser etched right on the product says 30 newton meters that's going to be for all of them we want to go ahead and pump that up to 30 newton meters right there give it a give it a little go i want to show you guys an important difference between our T47 external bottom bracket and any other one out there and that is uh come on in here our use of the Park Tool style or the Shimano size tool you see how there is nothing sticking up here see how nice and slick this looks there's not like a big crown of material sticking up for you know to go ahead and get a tool on or anything like that that way all of these lines flow together and look really beautiful gives it the proper aesthetic and that's really what we were going for just like that all right that is done that's how easy it is to install let me clean this up a little bit and um i'm going to go ahead and put the crank in in just a second hey look at that crank appeared in it well here's that gorgeous spin oh look at that now with a simple hardware change just these parts right here you can put any SRAM DUB crank in this exact same bottom bracket right here so any 30 millimeter any SRAM DUB crank and just look at how that look at how nice that looks though get a look at that oh yeah BBInfinite.
