Note: Our Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty is based on our experience with and confidence in the durability of our products. Therefore, we have few exclusions. The purpose of this policy is to give you confidence that we will stand behind our products as stated.
What bearings are covered under the Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty?
All of our Ceramitech branded bottom bracket bearings, both coated and uncoated, are covered under our Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty. Ceramitech pulleys are covered under our 1-year Ceramitech Pulley Warranty.
What does LifeTime mean with regard to the Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty Policy?
We define LifeTime as the total amount of time the original purchaser/owner/end-user of the product owns the product. The Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty is not transferable and only applies to the original purchaser/owner/end-user of the product/products.
Example 1: If you purchased through a shop, you, and not the shop, is the original purchaser/owner/end-user of the product.
Example 2: If you sell your bike, or the product itself, the new purchaser/owner/end-user of the product does not have a valid claim to the Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty.
What IS covered under the Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty?
Manufacturing defects, workmanship defects, and normal usage. Some examples of normal usage:
Example 1: Riding a bicycle under normal conditions such as road riding, gravel riding, and mountain biking on paved and unpaved roads and trails, such as single track.
Example 2: Under common riding conditions such as a sunny day, a rainy day, and in snow.
What is NOT covered under the Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty?
Excessive corrosion from water intrusion into the bearings or chemical contamination.
Submersion in water is defined as: Submersion occurs when the bottom bracket is partially or completely under water, as in a river or stream crossing. If submersion occurs the owner/rider/end-user must perform a bearing service as soon as the ride is over to remove all moisture and contaminants before reapplying grease. The warranty is only violated if the bottom bracket is left full of water and corrosion occurs. If a bearing service is performed immediately, post-ride, no corrosion will occur and the warranty will remain in effect. Riding in the rain does not constitute submersion.
Chemical contamination is defined as: Corrosion which occurs due to exposure to corrosive chemicals such as chlorine gas, often occurring when a bicycle is stored in or around swimming pool maintenance materials. Salt water is also considered a corrosive chemical compound and will occur if the bicycle is ridden on a seashore, for instance. The use of harsh and corrosive degreasers containing citric acid, such as Simple Green, will also violate the warranty.
Are sweat and hydration liquids considered corrosive, as both contain salt and acids?
No. Sweat and hydration drinks are part of cycling and cannot be avoided, and so this class of corrosive contaminants is excluded from what BBInfinite considers a “corrosive chemical”.
Does the Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty cover use in an E-bike, or other motor assisted bicycle?
No. The Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty Policy only applies to conventional, human-powered vehicles.
How do I know a bearing is “bad”, and should be covered under the Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty Policy?
A bearing is considered “bad” or faulty if it produces vibration when spun, indicating pitting/galling. If a bearing produces noise, but no apparent vibration, it is not “bad” or faulty, it simply needs service. Note: Due to the hardness of the ceramic balls and the low viscosity of the required grease, hybrid ceramic bearings will produce more “noise” than a typical bearing of all steel construction. The “noise” will not be louder than common drive train sounds and can only be heard when free-spinning the crank with no chain attached. How do I submit a Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty claim?
Contact us via email or Facebook or Instagram messenger. We will explain the process as follows:
For US residents:
Simply send us the bearing or bearings that you think are covered under the warranty and we will exchange it/them. The Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty is a bearing exchange program for all US residents. We will cover return shipping via USPS ground post for free. If you would like expedited shipping you will receive an invoice via email for the requested upgraded shipping.
For non-US residents/international customers:
Due to the high cost of international shipping, we do not require the return of the bearing/bearings you think are covered. We only ask that you cover the shipping costs for the new warranty bearings. We will mark the return shipment as “Warranty Parts, No Charge” to avoid taxes and duties. Your government should not levy taxes on warranty parts.
Please contact us if you have further questions or to receive a Ceramitech LifeTime Bearing Warranty claim number. We will assist you. Please do not remove the “bad” bearing or bearings and send them in without first contacting us. Thank you.
